The Earthquake and the Tornado were growing stronger and stronger with each second.
_ I will not let you lay a finger on her! he screamed
_ Oh no... I'm not going to touch that filthy brat at all! I'm going to take care of something you cannot protect."
"Aaand that's how she decided to destroy the world..."
Leinn said nothing, She was sitting in front of the girl, amused by her childish imitations of what happened the week before, then she smiled and said :
"There's something wrong with you, girl.
_What? Why?
_ You only care for your lover's happiness and he only cares for yours. Don't you think there's something missing?
_ What do you mean?
_ A little self preservation! You both should take better care of yourselves, so that the other won't worry, and you'll be at ease too!
_You mean... to be more... egoistic?
_ It's not that complicated. It's just good sense, for chrissake!
_ You talk about the Crossed Guy to vampires, now? interrupted a male voice coming from the other side of the room
_ Lucian! It's so good to see you!
_ The pleasure is mine, Leinn. It has been a long time. Did you catch up the situation?
_ Yeah, well, your lovely Carla here told me most about it. Lily became one of those crazy guys who want to put an end to this blue planet. Not very creative, right?
_ Well, not really, but that never was her forte.
_ True. So, it's a good battle, then?
_You only think of that, right?
_ Hey, I could have gone to places where I could reeeeally release my stress out, but I came here to give you a hand. So I expect some stress-relieving in return.
_ It's only fair... Carla, sweety, could you take care of the human cell for me. Last night our meal left some gory things, and I don't like the smell"
Carla okayed silently, understanding that he wanted to be alone with his old friend, and left the room.
"... I don't blame her, in a way, he went on. We were the Fated Ones, you know, we were supposed to be together forever... Lucifer and Lilith for eternity.
Leinn flinched a little.
_ Eternity doesn't exist... Wait, that was you?!
_ Well, yes, but our names were so misused by the human world's literature that we grew tired of it...
_ So it became Lucian and Lily, huh? Imagination is not your forte, either, right"
They both laughed, then the vampire suddenly looked at her seriously.
"So why did you come here, anyway?
_ I told you, I heard something was up, and I came to help an old friend.
_ Leinn... I am your old friend, you cannot fool me like this. I've known you for a long time now, I can tell when you're not ok.
_ Thanks, Lucian, I appreciate, even if I didn't know you that well since I didn't know you were Lucifer... Well, imagine if Lily was still the gorgeous and wonderful woman she used to be not so long ago, and Carla decided to kill her behind your back...
_ Ah... I understand... Even though Carla would never do that.
_ Of course, I know that...
_ Well I’m glad you’re here anyway. You’re like my clan sister.
_ Woah, Lucian, I’m honoured… But… You don’t have a clan anymore, right?
_ That’s just details, dear. Well do you want to hear my strategy?
_ Of course!
_ Well, Lily can create minions with a single drop of her blood, and her magic is Water and Wind. Carla is more Earth, I use Lightning and Wind too, and you’re obviously Fire. So we’ll…
_ Wait, I’m Fire? How do you know that for sure?
_ Honey, you were still an innocent woman when I was the King of Babylon. I know what I’m talking about.”
She gazed at him angrily, but smiled soon after, and told him to go on.
“Thank you. So I was thinking Carla and you take care of her blood monsters…
_ While you take care of Lily? Of course, the Queen is always for the King. And where will that take place? Here in London?
_ Of course not! On the Dark Side of the Moon.
_ … You’re kidding, right?
_ No, do you think Lily is so stupid as to destroy a world she’s still in?
_ Indeed, that do sound logical…
_ Oh, do you, by any chance, need air to survive? That is sooo human!
_ Ha-ha. Okay, gotcha, I won’t breathe. And it will be a good training for my old wings anyway. When do we leave?
_ Now that you know my ancient name, you still ask? Early morning, when the Moon fades out and the Morning Star still shines.
Lucian smiled, they both knew what were expecting them.
It took Leinn more time to recover from this battle than it had taken her to kill all the blood monsters that time. But even though her wounds were healed rather quickly, seeing Lucian and Lily battle against each other was what made her suffer the most, because she hadn't realised that they had to kill her, and she was not the only one in that case. One morning, carla entered her room and sat on the side of her bed.
“He doesn’t want to confide…
_ Carla, don’t take this too much at heart. Lily was…
_ I know all that! I know that they were bonded, and I know that we did the right thing up there, it’s just… I know all that but I don’t know anything. Though I’m a vampire, I’m still young, and I still can’t begin to conceive what they lived together, I don’t know the meaning of eternity yet.
_ Carla, there is no such thing as eternity. One day someone can come and shatter the peaceful things you thought were eternal. But that doesn’t mean that’s not a good thing. There is something reassuring with eternity, and it’s that you get used to it. You know it, and it cannot harm you. But because of that you wouldn’t be open to new feelings. I cho- Lucian chose you over Lily, to discover a new happiness to treasure.
_ But doesn’t that mean that he grew tired of her, and that one day he will grow tired of me?!
_ No, believe me, Lucian will not do that, and he didn’t grow tired of Lily either. That’s Lily that didn’t want to look at something new, she didn’t want to lose what she knew best, and she threatened this world. We had to do this. You had to do this, to help him do it.”
The girl suddenly hugged Leinn before leaving the room. Leinn thought about what she just said. That was the key to understand, and beside, she missed him already. Who else could she bragged that she had been to the dark side of the Moon? With a smile, she went out of the bed and prepared to leave.
“Taking off?
_ Lucian, why do you always appear like that?
_ An old vampire habit of mine. So? Do you feel better?
_ Yes, I feel very calm here, refreshed, even. I don’t know why…”
It was like the feeling in the Yunme, where she felt complete.
“You know, it is a very ancient domain, here. There are a lot of things here I don’t even begin to understand.
_ You’re joking… You, not understanding? I don’t believe you.
_ And yet it’s true! So, will I see you any time soon?
_ Frankly, I don’t know, Lucian, if things go well, maybe not, but maybe in another life?
_ Sure, I’ll wait. Take good care of you, Clan Sister.”
